Even though the queen is larger and is the most important bee in the colony, she takes less time to form from larvae to pupa to insect, only about 16 days compared to 21 or 24 of workers and drones respectively.
Be careful when you add a new super to your bees. If you add it too early, you run the risk of demoralizing the bees. Demoralizing is when there is so much empty room in the hive that the bees don’t even think its possible to fill all the frames. Why attempt an impossible task? Demoralizing the bees will cause them to build slower, this will hold your beehive back.

Do you mark your queens?
For year ending in 1 or 6: White (or Grey)
For year ending in 2 or 7: Yellow
For year ending in 3 or 8: Red
For year ending in 4 or 9: Green
For year ending in 5 or 0: Blue
